Rosemary Elizabeth Tackitt, age 83, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Saturday evening, February 5, 2022, at the Burge House in Flora.
She was born December 11, 1938, in Flora, the daughter of Robert W. and Madge (Painter) Hunter. Rosemary Hunter and Buddy Earl Tackitt were married on September 4, 1965, at Xenia United Methodist Church. Buddy joined the U.S. Army, and together their young family moved and lived in several places, including Germany. Buddy passed away April 17, 2014, after sharing over 48 years of marriage with Rosemary.
Rosemary’s children and grandchildren each hold one-of-a-kind memories that keep the spirit of their mom and grandma close to their heart. Like remembering her putting her feet up while out on the front porch and taking time to watch the birds and admire her flowers. Or even riding along with her as she drove somewhere in a lot less time than it would normally take, because Rosemary was adamant that she “didn’t like other cars trying to pass her.”
She was a lifelong member of Xenia United Methodist Church where she played the organ and piano, and served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She decorated many cakes for others over the years, enjoyed camping and fishing with family, and loved to plant all types of flowers in her yard. She worked for Silgan Plastics for over 20 years, from the time they opened in Flora, until retiring.
Rosemary is survived by her 3 children: Samuel Tackitt of Xenia, Madge (Jason) Grace of Flora, and William (Marsha) Tackitt of Tuscola; 7 grandchildren: Ciera (Cody) Birch, Amanda Wasion, Zacaria Wasion, Jaxsun Grace, Trent Tackitt, Baylee Tackitt, and Brock Tackitt; 5 great-grandchildren: River, Logann, Jake, Alayna, and Jett; 1 sister: Linda Chadwell of Flora; 6 brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Leslie A. (Lynn) Dulaney of Jeromesville, Ohio, Kenneth (Kendra) Dulaney of Flora, Sharon Weaver of Flora, Elaine Dulaney of Flora, Marilyn (Mike) Harper of Noble, and Carolyn (Bill) Frank of Flora; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother: Garland Hunter and his wife Betty; mother-in-law: Margaret Tackitt Dulaney and her husband Harry; brother-in-law: Jerry Chadwell; 2 nephews: Gary Hunter and Glen Hunter; and a niece: Cindi Branom.
