Sharon Faye Karr, age 73, of Johnsonville, Illinois, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, March 21, 2022.
She had been in SSM Hospice Care following a lengthy illness with cancer since March 1, 2022.
Sharon was born September 12, 1948, to loving parents Leo Vern and Eileen (Farris) Williams at her rural home in Geff. She attended school at Berry Grade School and Cisne High School.
She was united in marriage to David G. Karr, on June 4, 1966, in Johnsonville and together they shared 55 wedding anniversaries. They started their married life in Nashville Tennessee, later moving to Rockford Illinois before returning to Wayne County. For many years, she traveled with David during his trucking career. They visited all forty-eight states including Canada and Mexico.
Sharon had a zest for life and always gave of herself to others. Over the years she was a homemaker and held various jobs. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, crafts, arranging flowers, metal detecting, and fishing. Sharon was a fantastic cook and loved feeding everyone who visited her home. She loved her family and friends dearly and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her husband: David Karr of Johnsonville: 2 daughters: Sherry Karr of Columbiana, Alabama, and Susan Karr, of Johnsonville; mother: Eileen Williams of Geff; grandchildren: Kayleigh Miller of Woodlawn and Sabrina (A.J) Roley of Mattoon; great grandchildren: Kenzi Bartels, Kaden Roley and Emma Roley; and siblings: Jack Williams of Geff, Jean (Jim) Billington of Cisne, and Jim (Janice) Williams of Geff.
She was preceded in death by her father: Vern Williams; a sister: Shirley Dickey; and mother and father-in-law: Paul and Nina Karr.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the Johnsonville United Methodist Church with Steve Schell officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church. Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora assisted the family with arrangements.
