Paula Rae Schryer, age 70, of Flora, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday morning, May 13, 2022, at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
She was born on April 19, 1952, in Chicago, the daughter of Howard Jensen and Elizabeth Thompson. Paula re-united with her teenage love Charles Frederick Schryer III, and they were married on February 25, 1984, in Spokane, Washington. Together they shared 34 wedding anniversaries until his passing on January 8, 2019.
Paula was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She spent most of her free time loving and caring for her grandchildren and “adopted” grandchildren who were her pride and joy. When not being “Grammy” she spent her time working in retail where she was always filled with an abundance of energy and always wore a smile.
Paula was of the Christian faith and will be remembered for her kind and loving charm that made everyone feel comfortable in her presence. She loved her family and friends more than anything and cherished every moment she had with them.
She is survived by her children: Jennifer (Jason) Haas of Salem, Richard Kull of Vincennes, Indiana, and Christine (Jesse) James of Flora; 4 grandchildren: Jonathan Kull of Flora, Kyrsten Darrough of Florence, Alabama, Madison Miller of Jacksonville, Florida, and Carson James of Flora; and many “adopted” grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband: Chuck Schryer.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center and will be accepted through the funeral home.
