James Bernard Joseph Jones, age 84, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, July 10, 2022, at his home.
Jim was born July 6, 1938, in Carlyle, the son of Milton and Florence (Huene) Jones.
Jim was a long-time auto transport carrier driver. He enjoyed making music throughout his life with the many friends that he’d met, especially as he played rhythm guitar and sang. He loved his family and also the animals that shared his home. Jim was proud to serve in the U.S. Army where he was invited to participate as a member of the ceremonial honor guard.
He is survived by his wife: Carol Jones of Flora; children: Vicky Storm of Mason, Sue Jones of Bloomington, James David Jones (Brandi) of Effingham, and Jeff Jones (Shelley) of Lawrenceville; stepchildren: Rick (Melissa), Eric (Heather), Sheryl (John), Jennifer (Matt), and Cathy; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings: Jack (Sharon) Jones of New Athens, Donna (Pete) Gross of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Joe (Linda) Jones of Flora, and Ed Jones of Flora.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son: James Joey Jones; a daughter: Tracy Hunt; a son-in-law: Jesse Storm; a sister: Sharon Smith; and a brother: Jerry Jones.
A graveside funeral ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Xenia with the presentation of military funeral honors. A visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations are preferred to either Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter or Fur a Good Paws and will be accepted through the funeral home.
