Jodi Daws, age 38, of Louisville, IL died at 10:40 AM on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at her residence in Louisville, IL.
She was born on July 18, 1974 in Flora, Illinois. She married Trent David Daws and he preceded her in death on March 14, 2012.
Jodi was first and foremost a devoted mother to Marissa, and she appreciated the many simple joys that came with spending time with her family. She loved animals of many sorts, and had helped pets awaiting permanent adoption by providing a foster home environment. Jodi also spent much of her time with flower gardening, and decorating her home indoors and out. She will be remembered as someone who gave of herself to others by spending her time helping whenever asked. She helped needy children during the holidays and assisted her sister with cancer fundraising. Jodi’s family and friends will always remember that she enjoyed things like going fishing and watching fireworks, and was a fan of Elvis and the band Green Day.
She is survived by her parents: Ron & Barb (McGrew) Prather of Louisville; daughter: Marissa Ann Daws of Louisville; step-daughter: Ashton Vaughon of Jerseyville; 2 sisters: Lisa (John) Haycock of Flora and MaDonna Stumpf of Monticello; brother: Wade (Holly) Prather of Clay City; brother-in-law: Justin (Jamie) Daws of Winchester; special in-laws: Stuart & Donna Daws of Winchester; nieces & nephews: Jordan (Kristin) Haycock, Katelyn Haycock, Sheldon, Colton & MaKenna Stumpf, Shandon & Haydon Prather and many loving aunts & uncles. She is preceded in death by her husband; maternal grandparents: Ed & Dorothy McGrew and Lyndall Wyatt; paternal grandparents: Ralph & Cleo Prather.
The funeral service for Jodi Daws will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Bill Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested for the benefit of constructing the new Clay County Animal Shelter.
