Dennis Headlee
Mar 14th, 1949 - Feb 19th, 2023Dennis K. Headlee, age 73, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away early Sunday morning, February 19, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
He was born March 14, 1949, in Olney, son of the late John F. and Lavaun K. (Keen) Headlee. He was united in marriage to Cheryl J. Moseley on June 6, 1970, at Mt. Zion Church.
Dennis served in Vietnam in the U.S. Army in a LRRP (long-range reconnaissance patrol) unit. He was an avid Civil War collector and garnered numerous best of show awards at events nationally. He will be remembered for truly dedicating his career in the group living residential healthcare field to helping others, both with the goal of improving the lives of residents and supporting the caregivers and team members he worked with on a one-on-one basis. Dennis enjoyed visiting with his friends at his antique shop in downtown Flora. He appreciated antique cars and enjoyed camping trips and traveling to the Western United States.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Headlee of Xenia; a son, Joshua Headlee and wife Amanda of Loganville, Georgia; a daughter, Angela Feldhake of Mascoutah; 3 grandchildren, Elan Feldhake, Averie Feldhake, and Savannah Headlee; a sister, Connie Knarr and husband Richard of Wentzville, Missouri; as well as several nieces and cousins. He is also missed by his beloved dog companion, Miss Daisy.
A funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with military funeral honors presented. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
