Mary Jane Warren, age 95, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday evening, February 23, 2023, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
She was born July 22, 1927, in Boone County, Illinois, the daughter of Fred and Sylvia Alice (Gill) Brainard. She was united in marriage to Charles Neal Warren on December 24, 1949, in Olney at the United Brethren Church and together they shared 43 wedding anniversaries until his death October 28, 1993.
Jane was a graduate of Clay City High School and Frontier Community College. She had worked at the Flora International Shoe Factory and was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and stained glass and was a member of the Rinard Ruritan and Flora First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children: Charles Kent (Lee Ann) Warren of Clay City, Carole Kay (Robin) Roberts of O’Fallon, Teresa Jo Toler of Moweaqua, Douglas Scott Warren of Norris City, and Angela Lea (David) Freeman of Flora; grandchildren: Brandon (Reava) Warren of Rinard, Justin (Jennifer) Warren of Flora, Miles (Leslie) Warren of Clay City, Mary Warren of Flora, Cara (Alan) Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Leah (Rob) Raggio of O’Fallon, Missouri, Beth Anne Dorn of Durham, North Carolina, Kristina Toler of Molalla, Oregon, Craig Toler of Montrose, Jay Toler of Moweaqua, Corry Warren (Jan Harl) of Equality, Megan (Jonathan) Anderson of Enfield, Levi (Morgan) Warren of Carmi, Logan (Kristin) Warren of Norris City, Mandy (Kevin) Meyer of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Nicholas Frost of Flora, and Neal Frost of Flora; great-grandchildren: Macy (William) Klingler, Ty Warren, Clay Warren, Abby Warren, Jordan (Nathan) Myers, Gavin Warren, Holden Warren, Elena Warren, Gracie Warren, Daniel Warren, Catherine Warren, Ellyanna Sherlock, Anya Sherlock, Elise Raggio, Auggie Raggio, Austin Toler, Drew Toler, Rhian Warren, Walker Anderson, Willow Anderson, Maren Warren, Sophia Meyer, Andrew Meyer, Brooklynn Harl, and Kenadee Harl; 8 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Elbert Brainard of Peoria and Janet Brainard Fopay of Flora; and a brother-in-law: Ralph Ulm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant brother: Neil Brainard; a sister: Barbara Brainard Walker; mother and father-in-law: Charles and Maude Warren; 2 brothers-in-law: Bill Walker and Joe Fopay; and a sister-in-law: Donna Warren Ulm.
A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Private interment will take place at Bunker Cemetery, Rinard. A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to either Flora First United Methodist Church, Clay County Cancer Crusaders, Shriners Hospital for Children, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted through the funeral home.
