Vivian B. Youngblood, age 95, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, March 19, 2023, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
She was born October 17, 1927, in Energy, the daughter of Roy and Ethel (Snider) Gentry. She was united in marriage to Paul Lester Youngblood on July 30, 1944, and together they celebrated 71 wedding anniversaries until his death July 21, 2016.
Vivian worked in the medical field for many years working at several area medical clinics in Olney, Mt, Vernon, and Flora, and at Clay County Hospital. She was an active member of Flora United Methodist Church, Golden Links Sunday School Class, and Clay County Hospital Auxiliary. Vivian enjoyed attending southern gospel music concerts, cooking, and preparing meals for family gatherings. She loved and adored her children and grandchildren as well as her church family and had spent her entire life caring for others. She was very social and had been the Welcoming Ambassador for Heritage Woods Assisted Living Center.
She is survived by her children: Dennis (Kathy) Youngblood of Flora, Terry (Linda) Youngblood of Effingham, and Gayla (Bryan) Land of Flora; 6 grandchildren: Bekin Youngblood, Leslie Rusk, Zachary (Trisha) Youngblood, Andrew Youngblood, Maleah Land, and Mitchell (Anna) Land; 11 great-grandchildren: Rayden Moore, Sydney Youngblood, Liam Moore, Jase Rusk, Eva Youngblood, Maximilian Youngblood, Jack Compton, Mia Compton, and Blair, Knox, and Drew Land; 2 brothers: Leonard Gentry of Energy and Don Gentry of Carterville; special friends at Heritage Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery, Flora. A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders, Clay County Hospice, or Flora First Methodist Church and will be accepted through the funeral home.
