Sep 8th, 1949 - Jun 26th, 2023Nancy Lee Burkett, age 73, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Monday night, June 26, 2023, at her home.
She was born September 8, 1949, in Flora, the daughter of Harold Wayne “Hack” and Doris Lee (Purdy) Wilson. She was united in marriage to Robert Allen Burkett on November 15, 1969, at the Methodist Church in Flora and together they have shared 53 wedding anniversaries.
Nancy was a jack-of-all trades when it came to her role as a farm wife. Driving tractors, running errands for parts, and making dinner to take to the field were just a few of the tasks she took on. Spending time with her grandsons was one of her favorite pastimes. She was their biggest fan when it came to their baseball games and was extremely proud when North Clay won the State Championship. She was an animal lover and enjoyed listening to the ocean.
She is survived by her husband: Robert Burkett of Xenia; 2 sons: Greg (Stacey) Burkett of Louisville and Andy (Cindie) Burkett of Nashville, Tennessee; 2 grandsons: Ethan and Carson Burkett of Louisville; and a brother: Michael Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Powers Cemetery, Xenia. Those attending are asked to arrive directly at the cemetery. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to Fur a Good Paws and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
