Vera (Childers) Kincaid, age 91, of Flora, IL, formerly of Louisville, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at her home in Flora.
Vera was born December 29, 1921 in Louisville, IL to Doyle Leason and Mildred Blanche (Rinehart) Childers. She married Ulysses Shelby Kincaid on February 17, 1938 in Washington, IN. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2000. Vera truly “loved her old church”, the First Baptist Church in Louisville, where she spent many hours of involvement over the years and taught Bible School. She was a licensed realtor and a licensed beautician, and had worked at Clifton’s Furniture Store and NAPA. Vera was a charter member of the Louisville American Legion.
She is survived by 2 sisters: Joyce Davis of New Mexico and Jan Blair of Manito, IL; nieces and nephews: Doug (Ann) Kincaid, Mark (Pam) Kincaid, Rhonda (Gary) Jones, Chris (Steve) Ward, Jill (Ed) Dawkins, J.C. (Joan) Blair, Susan (Alan) Webster; along with several great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters (Sybil Stanford, William Childers, Jane Phillips, Loyd Childers), and nieces (Kaye Dow and Melonie Childers).
The funeral service for Vera Kincaid will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Louisville with visitation from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Louisville First Baptist Church. Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora is in charge of arrangements.
