Mary Lou Krutsinger, age 94, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Saturday evening, December 30, 2023, at Carle Richland Hospital in Olney.
She was born March 4, 1929, in Songer Township, Clay County, to Lew and Ida Mae (Davis) Anderson. She married William Glen Krutsinger on September 3, 1950, and together they built a life filled with hard work, faith, and love while raising children, and later welcoming grandkids on their family farm. Their remarkable journey spanned 68 years until Bill's passing on October 11, 2018.
Mary Lou was a longstanding member of Bethel Christian Church, the very place where she was baptized. Her commitment to the church over the years and its many activities included one of her favorites—vacation bible school. She and Bill openly extended support to the youth of the church and in the broader community. Whether helping with a word of encouragement and simple one-time need, or taking the time to inspire the ongoing personal growth and development of a young person, Mary Lou and Bill’s touch has left a legacy that embraces many families.
She served as a 4-H leader and was involved in Clay County HCE activities, and she and Bill found joy in the years they spent square dancing with the Flora Square Jammers.
Mary Lou will especially be remembered for her genuine expressions of gratitude and affection. A heartfelt “thank you” and “I love you” remain a lasting beautiful memory for everyone she shared these words with.
She is survived by her daughter: Donna Kay (Randy) Payne of Xenia; her 2 sons: Douglas Lee (Rebecca) Krutsinger of Xenia and Gregory Neal (Karen Broquet) Krutsinger of Springfield; 6 grandchildren: Michael (Misty) Payne, Melissa (Carl) Slobodzian, Jeremie (Shanna) Hutchens, Kena Krutsinger, Roxane (Patrick Randle) Krutsinger, and Lillian Krutsinger; great-grandchildren: Samantha Payne, Kaden Turner, Rylan Hutchens, Elijah Randle Krutsinger, Bailey Smith, and Jerron Borders; a sister-in-law: Ailene Anderson; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special group of people, including family, friends, and caregivers whom are all dearly appreciated.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband: Bill Krutsinger; and 3 brothers: Myron, John, and Don Anderson.
A funeral ceremony will begin at 12 noon Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Oskaloosa Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Christian Church and will be accepted through the funeral home.
