Winona “Winnie” Eleanor Egan, age 87, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024, at her home.
She was born December 22, 1936, in Wapakoneta, Ohio, to Walter and Hanna Kathleen (King) Hern. Winona was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Thomas Egan Sr. He preceded her in passing November 12, 2018.
Winona worked in an administrative support role at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon, from 1980 to 1992. She was a longtime member of Order of Eastern Star, and enjoyed crafts and quilting. Helping with organizations that supported the development of youth was important to her, and she especially found joy in the care and companionship of her cats and beloved dog, Peanut, later in life.
She is survived by 2 sons: Gary Egan of Oregon City, Oregon, and Richard (Marni) Egan Jr. of Aurora; 3 daughters: Christina Gravano of East Islip, New York, Anita Egan (Dale) of Oregon City, Oregon, and Cynthia Egan of Las Vegas, Nevada; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband; a son: Ted Alan Egan; a daughter: Deborah Lynn Rue; and 2 sisters: Linda Jaycox and Betty Swank.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. An Eastern Star memorial ceremony will begin at 4 p.m., with a time of remembrance and music to follow.
