Yvonne D. Glaspy, age 89, of Edgewater, Florida, and formerly of Flora, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, February 25, 2024.
She was born January 18, 1935, in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar A. and Viola May (Allen) Smith. She was united in marriage to Bernard Lee Glaspy on October 14, 1955, in Flora, and they shared 47 years of marriage prior to his passing on February 17, 2003.
Yvonne was a caring wife, and a devoted mother and grandmother. After moving to Florida, she operated a shop called the “Edgewater Emporium” where she offered antiques and many of the unique discoveries she had hand-selected at auctions and sales. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and documentary-watching. Yvonne especially treasured spending time with family and her special friends, and really looked forward to parties, reunions, and any occasion for a get-together. She enjoyed everything about opportunities to travel and sightsee, including planning each trip and learning all about the destinations she would be visiting.
Yvonne is survived by 3 sons: Richard Glaspy of New Port Richey, Florida, Kevin (Sheila) Glaspy of Edgewater, Florida, and David (Deanna) Glaspy of Charleston; 2 daughters: Debra (Brad) Johnson of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Teresa (Dan) Evans of Covington, Indiana; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband: Bernard; her companion: Robert R. Jackson; 4 brothers: Larry, Richard, William, and Jerry Smith; and 3 sisters: Jacqueline Smith, Sharon Zuccaro, and Janeen Smith.
