Kathlene Hagen

      Kathlene (Mitchell) Hagen, 89, of Jacksonville, formerly of Flora, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

      She was born July 10, 1934, in Noble, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas Edmond and Ola (Fulk) Mitchell.  She married K. Leon Hagen on Dec. 24, 1951.  They were the parents of four children: twin sons, Gregory and Gary, daughter, Kathie, and son, Ed.

      Kathlene embraced her non-denominational Christian faith. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse, finding immense joy in her chosen profession.

      Family was at the heart of Kathlene's life, and she always ended her phone calls with her memorable signature phrase: "Love ya, love ya, love ya!"

      Kathlene is survived by her children, Dr. Gregory (Gail) Hagen of Santa Rosa, California, daughter, Dr. Kathie (Don) Smith of Ashland, Illinois, and Ed (Susan) Hagen of  Midland, Texas; nine grandchildren, Crystal (Spencer) Kazy, Brent (Takako) Hagen, Dustin (Lindsey) Hagen, Kim (Devin) Hagen, Kari Hagen, Rebecca (Brandon) Stipp, Rachel (Trevor) Krisher, Kelsey (Matt) Hagen, and Justin Hagen; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Barry, Jett, Everlee, Hannah, Rylan, Brianna, Chloe, Aven, Zaelin, Kendyn, and Atlas; and great-great-granddaughter, Sofia, as well as expected twin babies on-the-way.  She is also survived by two sisters, Kay Miller and Ruth Elaine O'Brien, and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Krutsinger of Decatur.

      She was preceded in passing by husband K. Leon Hagen; son, Gary L. Hagen; three brothers, Lawrence Mitchell, Charles Mitchell, and Tom Mitchell; and three sisters, Beulah Brown, Lois Hagen, and Kathlene’s twin sister, Maxine Fryburger.

      A funeral ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.  A visitation will take place from 1 until 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Flora Volunteer Fire Department, and these will be accepted though the funeral home.  To share a condolence, visit: www.frankandbright.com
