Mar 6th, 1970 - Aug 11th, 2024Larry Stephen Martin, age 54, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, August 11, 2024, at Clay County Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1970, in Flora, the son of John Madison and Carolyn J. (Mayo) Martin Jr. He was united in marriage to Angela Lee Owen on July 29, 1993, and together they shared 31 wedding anniversaries.
Larry worked as a team leader at North American Lighting in Flora for 12 years. He was full of knowledge and always kept up with the news. Larry enjoyed playing video games and was a big fan of Sci-Fi movies, especially Star Wars and Star Trek, and always looked forward to time spent with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife: Angela Martin of Flora; 3 children: Chandra Martin of Flora, Alexander Martin of Flora, and Madison (Quentin) Young of Clay City; 2 grandchildren: Lilly Young and Garrett Young, both of Clay City; mother: Carolyn J. Martin; bonus children: Brandon O’Conner, Sherayeah Blackledge, Mychal Bush-King, Myles Bush-King, MyLinn Bush-King, Mykell Bush-King, and Tasha Gray; a brother: Gary Martin of Flora; and 2 sisters: Suzanne Acree of Flora and Teresa Martin (Rendell Dingman) of Cisne.
He was preceded in death by his father: John M. Martin Jr.; 3 sisters: Nancy Lagle, Carolyn Byers, and Vicki Burkett; mother and father-in-law: David and Anna Owen; 2 brothers-in-law: Carol Lagle and Steve Acree “Lumpy”; and a sister-in-law: Becky Martin.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday evening, August 16, 2024, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Jim Earleywine officiating. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
