Imogene “Jean” Cox, age 90, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Monday morning, September 23, 2024, at her home.
She was born October 24, 1933, in Flora, the daughter of Louie Robert and Evalena Selma (Coble) Thompson. She was united in marriage to John Samuel Cox on November 1, 1953, in Flora, and together they shared 60 wedding anniversaries until his passing on January 24, 2014.
Jean had previously worked as a beautician and often helped John with farm chores. Family was her top priority, and she was always willing to listen and offer a comforting hug. She loved spending time in her garden and having fun with her grandkids. Her trips to Arkansas were especially meaningful, providing a chance to connect with family and enjoy relaxing days by the water with a fishing pole. Simple moments with the people she loved were what she truly cherished most.
She is survived by her children: Teresa Stanley of Flora and Rick Cox of Flora; 2 grandsons: Rodney (Jamie) Keck of Flora and Ryan (Amy) Keck of Olney; 4 great-grandchildren: Jarod, Dallas, Kamille, and Kamden Keck; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers: R.L. Thompson and Sam Thompson; a son-in-law: Duane Stanley; and 2 sisters-in-law: Marjorie Thompson and Bertha Thompson.
