Barbara J. Mislich, age 74, of Flora, IL passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013 at her home in Flora.
Mrs. Mislich was born September 10, 1939 in Blue Island, IL to William and Margaret (Wigginton) Moore. She married Robert D. Mislich on February 20, 1960 in Blue Island, IL. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2005. Barbara was co-owner of the Pizza Pit for 26 years before selling to Lisa and Gary Lehman, and it is now operated by Lisa and John Bayler. Barbara and Robert were foster parents to at least 9 children throughout their years both in Chicago and in Flora. Barbara enjoyed crocheting and has made many afghans both to sell and give away to family. She also made each of her grandchildren white afghans to bring them home from the hospital and also to her nieces and nephews first born. She was an avid book reader, a hell of a bowler, and was a DIE HARD CUBS FAN.
Mrs. Mislich is survived by her 3 children: son Kenneth D. Mislich of Flora, daughter Jennifer J. Brown of Flora, and son Jason (Melisa) Mislich of Altamont; 3 sisters: Donna Moran (Richard Hembree) of Flora, Margene (Richard) Burmeister of Flora, and Joyce (Nick) Blume of Orlando, FL; a brother: Jeff (Connie) Moore of Flora; brother-in-law: Richard Mislich of Chicago; 3 grandchildren: Stephen Mislich of Bowling Green, OH, Robert (Chelsea) Henson and Rebecca Brown all of Flora; 2 great-grandchildren: Deacon and Dallas Henson and 1 expected great-grandchild; and her best friend Shelby Germany of Chicago. She will also be missed by her beloved dog Scrappy. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister-in-law (Dorothy Mislich).
The funeral service for Barbara Mislich will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
