Robert Leach

      Robert A. Leach Sr. of Romeoville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2025, at the age of 78 years from natural causes.  Robert is survived by his three sons, two daughters, one son in-law and two daughters-in-law: Daniel and Margie Leach, Robert and Faith Leach, and Steven Leach, all from Illinois; his daughter: Christiana Leach of Michigan and his daughter and son in-law Russell and Cara Goebel of Minnesota.  Robert was also a proud grandfather of Rebecca Wize and Jarrod Wize of Michigan, Robert Leach III and Brooke Leach of Romeoville; Braden Olmstead and Jeremiah Goebel of Minnesota: Tiffany Rekart and Alyssa Becht of Romeoville.

      Robert was the first person in his family to attend college and did so on a football scholarship to Northwest Missouri State University where he was named as an NCAA All-American athlete. He was signed to an American Football League (AFL) contract for the Kansas City Chiefs in 1968.

      Robert’s professional career spanned five decades of corporate success working for Joshua Door Furniture and Wickes Furniture as a VP of Sales and Regional VP before partnering with Michael Deep to form Independent Delivery Service (IDS) of Illinois. He also successfully launched a Spanish language entertainment tabloid called Contigo! in the Chicago metropolitan area, winning several national awards from the National Association of Hispanic Publishers (NAHP).

      Robert was well traveled and visited hundreds of cities in the United States and abroad. His favorite destination was New Buffalo Michigan where he owned a condo and boat slip. His boat “The Big Bobber” was his happy place for both himself and his family. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with family and especially enjoyed family events that included his grandchildren which he adored.

      Robert’s last words were “I love you.”

      Services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
