Linda Boyd

Nov 3rd, 1947 - Apr 23rd, 2025

Linda Alice Boyd, age 77, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at her home.

She was born November 3, 1947, in rural Louisville, the daughter of John and Ruby Althea (Smith) Welty.  She was united in marriage to Donald Marvin Boyd on August 6, 1973, in Flora, and together they have shared 51 wedding anniversaries.

Linda attended North Clay Grade School and High School.  Over the years, she had worked at the International Shoe Factory and the Flora Pavilion, and later devoted herself to caring for others as a home health provider.  She also generously gave her time as a volunteer at Clay City Grade School for many years.  Linda always looked forward to camping trips on the river with her family, a good game of Bingo, and afternoons spent in the yard tending to her flowers.  She found happiness in reading, cherished every moment with her grandchildren, and shared many laughs playing cards with her siblings over the years.

She is survived by her husband: Don Boyd of Clay City; children: Loranda “Lori” (Dave) Banker of Clay City, Alvin “Tody” Wells of Clay City, Erin Boyd of Clay City, and Jonathan “Jon” (Jessica) Boyd of Clay City; stepchildren: Greg Boyd of Johnsonville, Tracey (Mike) Shelton of Fairfield, Denny Boyd of Fairfield, and Tony Boyd of Johnsonville; grandchildren: Levi (Missy) Banker of Glen Carbon, Isaac (Jordan) Fulk of Clay City, Jackson Dye of Clay City, Caroline Hinterscher of Clay City, Hayden Boyd of Clay City, Carter Boyd of Clay City, and Braxton Boyd of Clay City; great-grandsons: Max Banker of Glen Carbon and another eagerly expected in July; 5 step-grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Ruthie Welty; life-long friend: Linda Engelmeier; brother-in-law: Wayne Owens; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved cat, Snickers.

She was preceded in passing by her parents; siblings: Dr. John Welty, Dr. Stephen Welty, Jeannie Owens, Ruth Ann Welty, and Patricia Pruitt; maternal grandparents: Arthur and Nellie (Baity) Smith; and paternal grandparents: William and Laura (Gillispie) Welty.

A visitation will be held from 2 until 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Clay City Christian Church.  A funeral ceremony will follow at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Church.  Private interment will take place at Rusk Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorial donations are suggested to Axiom Gardens of Flora Activity Fund or Fur a Good Paws, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com
