Minnie Fry
Jul 23rd, 1931 - Dec 22nd, 2013Minnie Louise Fry, age 82, of Flora, IL passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.
She was born July 23, 1931 in Hamilton County, IL to Clay and Pearlie (Jamerson) Stanley. She married Herschel Fry on December 2, 1948 in Morganfield, KY. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2006. Minnie worked 25 years at Richland Memorial Hospital starting out as a nurse’s aide, working in several departments, and had attended the Assembly of God church. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, cooking and baking homemade meals, taking care of dogs, and playing the harmonica. Her real joy in life was her grandchildren and in 2003 Minnie was chosen Clay County Greatest Grandma.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter: Shirley (Norman) Workman of Flora; 2 granddaughters: DeAnn (Dave) Hawkins of Flora and Cindy (Jimmy) Walker of Cisne; 7 great-grandchildren: Cole Hosselton of Flora, Cheyenne Hosselton (fiancée Brandon Edwards) of Flora, Hope Walker of Cisne, Haylee Walker of Cisne, Logan Hawkins of Flora, Harrison Walker of Cisne, and Hadley Walker of Cisne; sister-in-laws: Dorothy Smith of Olney, Thelma Fry of Wooster, OH, Gertrude Fry of Sorento, Sue (Frank) Winters of Caryville, TN; brother-in-law: Bill (Linda) Fry of Flora; and a godchild: Christy Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son.
The funeral service for Minnie Fry will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Clay City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.
