Carmon deWeese

   Carmon D. deWeese, age 71, of Flora, passed away January 1, 2014, at his home.

 

   He was born November 12, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Carmon F. and Dorothy (Hayes) deWeese.  Following his service in the U.S. Navy, Carmon began a lifelong career working as a field engineer for Stromberg-Carlson.  In his spare time, he devoted many hours to the craft of woodworking.  He enjoyed being with his family, and especially time spent seeing his nieces and nephews.  Carmon was of the Protestant faith, and he held memberships in the Flora American Legion, VFW, and Elks.

 

   His surviving family includes 4 brothers: Nick (wife Vera) deWeese of Flora, Marco (wife Shari) deWeese of Olney, Alexis (wife Carolyn) deWeese of New Haven, IN, Philip (wife Patty) deWeese of Mount Horeb, WI; 3 sisters: Liana (husband Steve) Leinonen of Annandale, MN, Maria (husband Bob) Hahn of Mt. Carmel, Gina Lowe of Manhattan, KS; a sister in-law: Karen deWeese of Flora; along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Stephen deWeese; a sister and brother in-law: Ruth and Henry Taylor; and 2 nieces.

 

   A funeral service with military honors for Carmon deWeese will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with Pastor Bruce Horsely officiating.  Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Flora.  Memorial donations in Carmon’s name are suggested to the Clay County Cancer Crusaders and will be accepted at the funeral home.
