Leona Rinehart

    Elsie Leona Rinehart, age 84, of Flora, IL and formerly of Clay City, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Flora Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

    Leona was born November 27, 1929 in Clay City, IL to John Jasper and Mary Elsie (Mitchell) Gray.  She married Adrian Eugene McDowell on October 8, 1948 in Louisville and he preceded her in death in 1976.  She later married David Earl Taylor on October 2, 1983 in Clay City and he also preceded her in death on April 6, 2001.  She then married Norman Rinehart on June 8, 2006 in Kentucky and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2011.  During her life, Leona worked as a custodian at Clay City Bank and area restaurants, she assisted her husband David Taylor at Taylor Insurance, served as activity director at Flora Health Care Center, and was involved as a hospice volunteer always wanting to help others.  Leona dedicated her life to caring and sharing.

    She is survived by her children: Debra (husband Robert) Blank of Louisville, Nancy (husband Paul) Krutsinger of Clay City, and Roger (wife Glenda) McDowell of Bulger, PA; 7 grandchildren: Tony (Melissa) Bible, Tammy (Dave) Burkett, Nathan Bible, Lyle (Kelly) McDowell, Sara (Ben) Wylie, Brad (Janie) Krutsinger, Tonya (Jason) Toy; 10 great-grandchildren: Dawson and Devon Krutsinger, Brayden Keller, Michael and Rusty Mayberry, Ava McDowell, Ella Grace and Jude Wylie, Drue and John Bible;  a sister: Ruth Osborne of Springfield, MO; a brother: Lynn Gray (wife Phyllis) of Olney; and a sister-in-law: Betty Gray of Calhoun.  She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, two brothers (Carl Lester and Billy Joe Gray), and one sister (Wanda Jean Gray).

    The funeral service for Leona Rinehart will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Interment will be in Clay City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations in Leona’s memory may be made to Macular Degeneration or Clay County Food Pantry and will be received at the funeral home.  An online guest book is available at www.frankandbright.com.
