Wanda Schnautz

    Wanda Schnautz, age 84, of Flora, Illinois passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Clay County Hospital in Flora.

    Wanda was born February 2, 1930 in Frankfort, Indiana the first of twin daughters to William and Ethel (Pruitt) Cottengaim. Wanda was a graduate of Harter Township High School and a retired 21 year employee of Clay County Hospital as an admitting clerk and later a medical transcriptionist. Wanda loved her church, Flora Church of the Nazarene. She was an excellent cook and was best known for her homemade blackberry cobbler. She also enjoyed helping with and canning items from the family garden and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Illini fan.

    Wanda was first married to Norman Rinehart.  She later married Sherman R. Schnautz on October 16, 1982 in Flora.  He preceded her in death on September 12, 2002. 

    She is survived by 3 sons: Mike (wife Sherry) Rinehart of Flora, Eric (wife Penny) Rinehart of Springfield, James (wife Brenda) Rinehart of Flora; 3 step-sons: Greg Schnautz of Clay City, Anthony Schnautz of Clay City, Danny (wife Jackie) Schnautz of Rushville, Indiana; step-daughter: Pam Schnautz of Clay City; 2 sisters: Wilma Alsup of Aberdeen, North Carolina and Dorothy Green of Norwalk, Ohio; 2 sisters-in-law: Neva Schnautz and Eva Herdes both of rural Clay City; 8 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sherman, son Norlan Rinehart, 3 brothers (Leroy, Willis and Billy Cottengaim), and her twin sister Wandalene.

    The funeral service for Wanda Schnautz will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with interment following in Dillman Cemetery, Sailor Springs.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.  Memorial donations may be given to Flora Church of the Nazarene and will be accepted at the funeral home.  An online guest book is available at www.frankandbright.com.
