Terry Burkett

    Terry K. Burkett, age 55, of Flora, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his home in Flora.

    Terry was born on September 28, 1958 in Flora to Charles and Shirley (Henson) Burkett.  He married Angela Dee Utley on November 7, 1976 at the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Flora.  Terry worked for over 30 years for the City of Flora, retiring in May 2013 as head lineman.  He was a dedicated member of Flora Community of Christ Church where he sang, served as an Elder, and assisted with the preaching.  Terry enjoyed his time spent with his sons while bowling on Monday Night League, was a fantastic St. Louis Cardinal fan who rarely missed a game, and loved spending time painting and restoring autos.  He loved his family and was a proud Grandpa.

    He is survived by his wife: Angela Burkett of Flora; children: Joshua Burkett (wife Lindy) of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Deanna de Sa` (husband Tomaz) of Florence, Alabama, Jacob Burkett (wife Laura) of Salem, and Jonah Burkett (wife Tricia) of Flora; daughter-in-law: Sara Burkett Weller of Xenia; father: Bob Mason of Flora; father-in-law: Wally Utley of Clay City; 16 grandchildren: Jolee Burkett, Rylee Burkett, Corbin Mason Burkett, Lily Burkett, Aiden Burkett, Mitchell Chaffee, Kaio de Sa`, Gabriella de Sa`, Cristian de Sa`, Caleb de Sa`, Mia Burkett, Cooper Burkett, Ashlynn Burkett, Annabelle Burkett, Baylee Burkett, Makayla Burkett, and one grandchild on the way; along with many friends and family especially his electric crew.  He was preceded in death by his parents (Charles Burkett and Shirley Henson Burkett Mason), a son (Charles W. “Chuck” Burkett), mother-in-law (Deanna K. “DeDe” Utley) and brother-in-law (Michael Utley).

    The funeral service for Terry Burkett will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Xenia.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.  Memorial donations may be made to Clay County Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
