Martha Lou McHenry, age 87, of Flora, Illinois passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home in Flora.
Martha was born April 10, 1927 in Flora to Thomas J. and Bessie E. (Kilpatrick) Young. She married Paul W. Landreth on October 18, 1942 and he preceded her in death March 1982. She then married Eddie P. McHenry on October 31, 1982 in Louisville. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2009. Martha was a homemaker and retired after working for Headstart and CEFS as a van driver. She attended Golden Church as a young adult and was member of Tennessee Baptist (New Zion) Church. Martha enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, quilt making, and loved helping others. She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Martha is survived by son Roy E. Landreth of Flora; daughter Sue (Ron) Tolliver of Flora; daughter Karen (Carl “C.J.”) Goldstein of Altamont; son Steve (Ramona) Landreth of Phoenix, Arizona; son Aaron (Terri) Landreth of Louisville; step-daughter Beverly Gibson of Louisville; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, an infant son (Gary), and 8 siblings (John Young, Harry Young, Carol Young, Bob Young, Lucille Colclasure, Edna Mattox, Dorothy Young, and Blanche Young).
The funeral service for Martha McHenry will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with interment following in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 11-1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to Clay County Hospice or New Zion Baptist Church and will be received at the funeral home.
