Harriet Esther Logan, age 94, of Catlin, IL, formerly of Clay County, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman.
Esther was born December 11, 1919, in Flora, the daughter of Clint and Milla (Stanford) Logan. After graduating from high school in Lousiville, IL, she earned a degree in education with a major in mathematics from the University of Illinois in Champaign. Harriet taught math in Noble, Elkville, Anna-Jonesboro, Carbondale, and DuQuoin. After retirement, she moved to Catlin and became a member of the Catlin United Methodist Church.
Esther is survived by her niece: Elaine (Greg) Newton of Ft. Worth, TX, and nephew: Kenneth (Dianne) Sanders of Catlin; two grandnieces: Sarah (Andrew) Day of Grand Prairie, TX, and Kristen (Mike) Strunga of Catlin, and two grandnephews: Bradley (Britni) Chrostowski of Mansfield, TX, and Brett Sanders of Frisco, TX. Harriet is also survived by two very dear friends: Linnie Robinson of DuQuoin, and Van Robinson of Dover, DE. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Aleta Swingle and Frances Sanders.
A service to celebrate the life of Harriet Esther Logan will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with Dr. Donald Bunnell officiating.
