Lorene Crystal O’Brien Fatheree, a lifelong resident of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at her home in Xenia at the age of 86.
Lorene was born March 28, 1928 in Xenia to Richard H. and Nettie (Kirgan) O’Brien. She married Jerome Fatheree on August 27, 1945 in Xenia. He preceded her in death August 7, 2009. Lorene had worked at Four Sisters Manufacturing in Flora, Brown Shoe Factory and Pants Factory both in Salem, and was a longtime member of Xenia Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning, making jelly and pies, and tending her flowers and roses. Lorene adored her beloved pets, a dog “Molly” and a cat “Charlotte”, and loved being with family.
She is survived by her children: Johnny (Judy) Fatheree of Parkersbug, Norma (Ivan) Barnett of Xenia, Roger Fatheree of Xenia, Sheila (Vern) Pittman of Rinard, Joe (Darlene) Fatheree of Effingham, Randy (April) Fatheree of O’Fallon, Missouri; 8 siblings: Maxine Jacobs (the late Jerry) of Rockford, Ed (Kathy) O’Brien of Belvidere, Joe (Kathy) O’Brien of San Bernardino, California, Bill (Valerie) O’Brien of Rockford, Chelsea (Bill) Casolari of Flora, Roy (Dottie) O’Brien of Rockford; sister-in-law: Catherine O’Brien of Lake Havasu, Arizona; 10 grandchildren: Kevin Fatheree, Jason (Lori) Forth, Kristina Forth, Dwight Fatheree, Shannon Hays, Matthew (Laurie) Turner, Taylor Fatheree, Brandon Fatheree, Haley Fatheree, Ryan Fatheree; 8 great-grandchildren: Haley Cook, David Fatheree, Aly Hays, Samantha Hays, Trenton Tidwell, Jayden Fatheree, Lillian Turner; and 1 great-great-grandchild: Kaydence. Lorene had a host of nieces and nephews that she loved along with her special friends and a caregiver Amanda Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter Brandy Cook, her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Ruth O’Brien, and her brother Ray O’Brien.
The funeral service for Lorene Fatheree will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with interment following in Powers Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Clay County Hospice, Fur a Good Paws, Clay County Cancer Crusaders, or American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.
