Mamie Jo Brown, age 85, of Cisne, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 11, 2014 at Cisne Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Mamie Jo was born January 30, 1929, in Flora, the daughter of John Allen Davis and Lucille Fern (Compton) Davis. Over the years, she had worked at Four Sisters Manufacturing and was known to many as the “biscuit lady” at Druther’s. She loved babysitting and taking care of grandchildren, and enjoyed puzzles, watching sports, playing cards, gardening, slot machines, and fishing and hunting when she was young.
Mamie Jo is survived by her children: Carl (Shirley) Eskew of Ormond Beach, FL, Ginger (Lloyd) Powell of Byhalia, MS, Donna Hemphill of Little Rock, AR, Bonnie (Cliff) Witt of Lockport, Lee Ann (Frank) Kennedy of Jacksonville, AR, Guy (Rhonda) Brown of Jewitt, Jackie (Ted) Richardson of Cisne, and Virgil Brown of Jewitt; 3 brothers: George Davis of Tonganoxie, KS, John (Ada) Davis of Crab Orchard, KY, Gary (Darlene) Davis of Salem; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law: Vance; 3 brothers: Robert, Emory, and Richard; and 3 sisters: Rosemary, Doris, and Priscilla.
A funeral service for Mamie Jo Brown will be 7 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A private interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and will be accepted at the funeral home.
