Mar 16th, 1935 - Sep 14th, 2014Ronald Edward Thompson, age 79, of Edwardsville, formerly of Flora, Illinois passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home in Edwardsville.
Ron was born March 16, 1935 in Goldfield, Iowa to Seth and Dorothea (Misenhimer) Thompson. He married Marjorie Howe on March 21, 1953. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2011.
He is survived by five children: Valerie (Bob) Bute of Louisville, Vickie (Tom) Hodges of Summerfield, FL, Jon (Nona) Thompson of Osage Beach, MO, Dora (Don) Riley of Flora, and Lynne (Darrell) Wilson of Clay City; a sister: Dollie Pearson of Edwardsville; a sister-in-law: Carrie Thompson of Flora; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 expected great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers: Walter and Burrell Thompson, and a brother-in-law: Harley Pearson.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, a private burial in Flora will be held following cremation. Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora is assisting the family.
