Peggy J. Higgins, age 74, of Rinard, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015, at her home in Rinard.
Peggy was born March 26, 1940 in Hiram, MO to Bryan and Mary (Hedrick) Bell. She married Bob Kyburz in 1962. She later married Ben Higgins on June 14, 1982 in Rinard. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1998. Peggy worked as a waitress at several area restaurants, including the Ranch Steakhouse, and was of the Baptist faith. Peggy, lovingly referred to as “Mamaw”, adored her granddaughters. She enjoyed talking to everyone and you could always count her in when playing cards with family and at family events.
She is survived by her daughters: Sheryl (Dave) Brant of Cisne and Jana (Brad) Mugrage of Rinard; 2 granddaughters: Kacy Jo Mugrage of Flora and Lexi Jo Brant of Cisne; great-granddaughter: Shea Jones; 4 sisters: Ruth Cantrell of St. Louis, MO, and Shirley Durham, Sue (Larry) Kurtenbach, and Faye (John) Baker all of Chatsworth; 5 brothers: Jim Bell of Bloomington, Larry (Cindy) Bell of Forrest, Gary Bell of Chatsworth, Darrell (Tanya) Bell of Chatsworth, and Jerry (Linda) Bell of Advance, MO; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: Gene and Ivan Bell, 2 sisters: Brenda Bell and Verna Humphrey, and a niece: Connie Emberton.
A funeral service for Peggy Higgins will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with visitation starting at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
