Roy “Bobe” L. Rascher, age 89, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015, at his home in Xenia.
Roy was born April 28, 1926 in St. Louis, MO, to Roy Raymond and Margaret (Detjen) Rascher. He married Lulu Mae Spicer on May 2, 1959 in St. Louis, MO. Roy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as an Aviation Radio Man, and after the war, was in the Naval Air Transport Service. Following his service to his country, Roy began working as a carpenter with H.A. Dailey in St. Louis. Roy and Lulu Mae later moved to Xenia, where he was a skilled, self-employed carpenter, always being very detailed and particular about his work and craftsmanship. Roy also enjoyed reading, computer games, spending time with family, and following his hometown baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
He is survived by his wife: Lulu Mae Rascher of Xenia; 2 daughters: Cindi Rascher of Watertown, MA, Dawn (Mark) Cazadd of Xenia; 2 sons: Kerry (Christy) Rascher of Flora, Tracy (Heather) Rascher of Clearwater, FL; 4 grandchildren: Nick (Erica) Cazadd of St. Charles, MO, Zac (Natalie) Rascher of Evansville, IN, Hanna (Bobby) Allison of Cisne, Darian Cazadd of Xenia; 5 great-grandchildren: Sadie Cazadd, Preston and Porter Rascher, Kalli and Lacey Allison; 2 sisters: Delores Scott (Bill Rousseau) of St. Louis, MO, Janet Fuller of Belle, MO; 2 sister-in-laws: Betty (Gene) Pieplow of Xenia, Linda (Dixon) Barfield of Reichenbach, Germany; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Roy Rascher will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia, with military honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 25, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be given to Xenia Safety Corporation and will be received at the funeral home.
