Martha Jane Lewis, age 75, of Clay City, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at her son’s home in Rinard.
Martha was born August 20, 1939 in Flora to Richard “R.O.” and Cora Elizabeth (Schmidt) Sparlin. She married Donald L. Lewis on October 18, 1958 in Fairfield and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2012. Martha worked at Sparton Manufacturing and did bookwork for her husband in the oil business. Family was most important to Martha.
She is survived by four sons: Donnie Lewis of Clay City, James (Rhonda) Lewis of Rinard, Richard Lewis of Colorado, and Mark Lewis (Jill Young) of Clay City; one daughter: Tammy (Dewayne) Coughlin of Carlinville; four sisters: Vera (Tom) Craig of Flora, Virginia Johnson of Olney, Kathryn (Richard) Lepley of Lima, OH, and Clara (Sam) Booth of Flora; one brother: Ben Sparlin of Hutsonville; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchldren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Teresa Lewis Bentley, great-granddaughter: Brooklyn Armstrong, five brothers, and two sisters.
A funeral service for Martha Lewis will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Brad Harris officiating. Interment will be in Bloom Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to the family.
