Gershum Oliver “Ollie” Hough, age 71, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Ollie was born April 14, 1944. Early in his youth, he worked as a stock boy for Dode Briscoe and when he got older, he delivered feed to area farms. During the years, Ollie worked in various movie theaters, was employed at Wal-Mart in Salem and Mt. Vernon, worked at Best Homes in Effingham, and operated H&H Gifts and Wholesale. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed wrestling, hanging out with friends at Grandma’s Kitchen, and would stop by Huck’s for a soda every day. Ollie was kind-hearted and always willing to help others.
He is survived by special friends: Jim and Brooke Buffington of Clay City and Tara Lynn Horath and Mary Pamela Rahn of Flora. He was preceded in death by his mother: Clarabel Hough.
A funeral service for Ollie Hough will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.
