Apr 5th, 1956 - Aug 27th, 2015Marla K. Hockman, age 59, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Marla was born April 5, 1956 in Effingham, Illinois, to Wayne and Peggy (Sparks) Childress. She married Scott McDermith on February 12, 1977 and he preceded her in death. She then married John D. Hockman, Jr. on October 31, 2003 in Olney. Marla was a Tupperware consultant and being with family and watching the grandkids’ games brought her great joy.
She is survived by her husband: John Hockman of Olney; a daughter: Rhianna (John) Bannick of Dieterich; mother: Peggy Warren and husband Kenneth of Beecher City; 3 grandchildren: Tyler, Madison, and Hunter; two brothers: Loren Childress of Mattoon, Robert (Kim) Warren of Yelm, WA; one sister: Lisa (Jamie) Mossburg of Sheridan, IN; step-brother: Rick Warren of Greenwood, IN; step-sister: Lauren Christianson of Louisiana; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother: Richard Childress.
A funeral service for Marla Hockman will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dieterich. Interment will be in Dillman Cemetery, Sailor Springs. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dieterich. Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora is in charge of arrangements.
