Gerald Lee Mattox, age 75, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015, at his home in Flora.
Gerald was born November 19, 1939, in Xenia, the son of William Dentford and Goldie (Builes) Mattox. He married Arlene Landreth on May 12, 1962, at the Golden Church near Flora, and she survives.
Gerald was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and after working in the oil field for a time he went on to retire from AMF in Olney after 25 years. Gerald enjoyed trapshooting, bird hunting, fishing, playing bingo games, and spending time watching old western movies and television programs. He was a proud grandfather.
He is survived by his wife: Arlene Mattox of Flora; 2 daughters: Cindy (Tony) McAllister of Louisville and Chris (John) Koehler of Marshall; 4 grandchildren: Joey McAllister, Matt Koehler, Beth Koehler, and Jennifer McAllister; and a great-grandchild: Bryson Willis. He was preceded in death by his parents: William Mattox and Goldie Mattox Griffith; a sister: Shirley Garcia; and a great-granddaughter: Janessa L. Krantz.
A funeral service for Gerald Mattox will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with interment following in Golden Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
