Marty W. Johnson, age 54, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Marty was born January 7, 1961 in Flora to Delbert Eugene and Connie (Lamb) Johnson. He married Sherrykay Britton on November 22, 1985. Marty worked for Sherwin-Williams in Effingham for 17 years and prior to that, was employed at Sunbeam Plastics for 17 years. Marty was all about family and friends. He was saved and during his spare time enjoyed watching the History Channel, being outdoors and going rappelling, and working on cars with his sons.
He is survived by his wife: Sherry Johnson of Xenia; two sons: Todd Johnson (fiancée Harley Davis) of Xenia and Trenton Johnson (fiancée Cayla Tower) of Xenia; mother: Connie Johnson of Flora; two brothers: David (Maralee) Johnson of Flora and Perry Johnson of Salem; mother-in-law: Mary Britton of Clay City; two brothers-in-law: Jerry Britton (friend Gaitha Miller) of Noble and Homer (Amy) Britton of Sailor Springs; sister-in-law: Carrie (Carroll) Lee of Clay City; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including a special great-niece: Aleiyah Kay Krutsinger. He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents: Virgil and Dorothy Johnson, maternal grandparents: Ray and Arlene Lamb, and father-in-law: Homer Britton.
A funeral service for Marty Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Campground Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the hour of service on Sunday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.
