Susan Donaldson Warger, age 73, of Flora, Illinois, and a former resident of Ohio and West Virginia, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Flora, Illinois. Susan was a joyful ray of sunshine to many others, and the light of her strength and love will continue to shine brightly in celebration of her wonderful life. During Susan’s working career, she became the third-generation of her family to own and operate Queen City Nursing Home in Cincinnati, taking care of residents and truly sharing the love and compassion of Christ in her work. She traveled throughout the world, but especially looked forward to spending time in Longboat Key, Florida. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Flora and enjoyed attending the Flora Garden Club and Flora Golden Circle.
Susan was born March 15, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of James and Ruth (Jones) Donaldson. She is survived by her son and new daughter (in-law): Charles and Jodie (McDonald) Warger, along with their Airedale Terrier, Achilles of Flora; two brothers and sisters-in-law: James and Anne Donaldson and Charles and Patricia Donaldson; nieces and nephews: Zachary, James, and Craig Donaldson, Lisa Anderson, and Jennifer Smith; great-nieces: Alexandria and Jaimee Anderson, and Gabriel Smith; and Lisa and Jennifer’s mother: Carol. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog, Maggie.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Susan Warger will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016, at First Baptist Church, 203 E. 3rd St., Flora, Illinois.
