Creed Perry
May 6th, 1942 - Jan 13th, 2016Creed Leon Perry, age 73, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at his home in Flora, surrounded by family, loved ones and friends. Creed was born May 6, 1942, in Fairfield, to Creed Garrison and Agnes Ovalee (McCracken) Perry.
He married Judith Kay Daughenbaugh on September 11, 1962, in Cisne. Creed is survived by his wife: Kay of Flora; children: Tamara Jean (Warren) Monical of Flora, Eddie Lee Perry of Flora, Trina Lynn Greenwood of Benton, and Danny Leon (Shara) Perry of Evansville; three sisters: Audra Kunce of Fairfield, Darlene Leathers (the late Bill) of Flora, and Sandra Blohm (the late John) of Olney; a brother-in-law: John Platte (the late Mary Lou) of Michigan; along with 15 grandchildren and a great-grandson on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter: Ashley Dawn Perry Ames; and 5 siblings: Leota Perry, Richard E. (Blanche) Perry, Mary Lou Platte, Ruth Ann (Dale) Bowen, and Ollie Magdeline (Wayne) Krutsinger.
Creed was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many. Creed proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Era and conducted operations off the coast of Cuba during the Missile Blockade. He worked in the "Oilfields" for years and was known as "Unc" (short for Uncle) by many. He learned to play golf after he went to work for Southwire in 1984 and retired from there in 2010. He loved to hunt and fish and spending time with his family. He was a very caring man, but what he will be remembered as the most is a mentor to many and a "Teacher of Men." He will be truly missed by all.
A memorial service for Creed Perry will be held 5 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with visitation from 3 p.m. until the hour of service on Monday.
