Ezula Hope Erwin, age 91, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016, at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.
Ezula was born June 14, 1924, in Flora, the daughter of Willliam and Carrie (Carter) Erdman. She married Otis Henson in 1943 and he preceded her in death in July 1944, during WWII in France. She later married George E. Erwin on March 16, 1946, in Flora. He preceded her in death February 3, 1989. Ezula was a homemaker who kept a tidy home. At one time she worked at Western Auto and Gambel’s, and was a dedicated member of Gospel Assembly in Mill Shoals. She enjoyed gardening, yardwork, canning, and playing games that she referred to as “Tiddlywinks.”
She is survived by her children: Becky (Herb Sr.) Henson of Flora, Ed (Ellen) Erwin of Flora, and Scott (Donna) Erwin of Bradenton, FL; 5 grandchildren: Herb Jr. (Michelle) Henson of Flora, Kim (Calvin) Wilson of Flora, Janna (Paul) Caravia of Troy, Benjamin (Ashley) Erwin of Glen Carbon, and Aaron (Crystal) Riley of Indianapolis, IN; 7 great-grandchildren: Alyssa (Aaron) Rogers, Anna Henson, Cari Wilson, Cali Wilson, Grant Caravia, Garrett Caravia, and Elliott Erwin; 1 great-great-grandson: Owen Rogers; 1 brother: Bill (Esta) Erdman; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and one sister: LaJean Erwin.
A funeral service for Ezula Erwin will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Floral Garden of Memories. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Flora Rehab & Health Care Center Activity Fund, and those will be accepted at the funeral home.
