Dennis E. Pride, age 71, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
Dennis was born August 14, 1944 in Washington, Indiana, the son of Bruce and Lela Mae (McCrary) Pride. He married Sue Atkinson Jordan on July 9, 2015.
Dennis attended St. Stephen’s Grade School and served as an altar boy at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. He went on to complete his education and graduated from Flora High School. In his youth, Dennis worked at Holland Truck Stop and International Shoe Company in Flora. He then went to work for Caterpillar in Decatur for 45 years, working his way up to Buyer of Materials. He enjoyed baseball, playing golf, and bowling, and loved animals, having had many pets during the years. Dennis was a great son, father, brother, uncle, and husband, being a role model to all. He wanted to make everyone happy and gave everything he could to those he loved. Dennis will be remembered as a giving man with a big heart!
He is survived by his wife: Sue Pride; mother: Lela Pride; children: Shannon (Craig) Spears and Shonna (Kent) Willette; step-children: Jessica Jordan, Jason Jordan, and William Jordan; 4 grandchildren: Chase and Shea Spears, Landon and Lucas Willette; 7 step-grandchildren: Brittany and Braidyn Jordan, Ashley and Cara Haynes, Emily Seiber, Jennifer and Joslynn Jordan; 2 sisters: Cheryl London and Charlotte Pride; 7 brothers: Kenneth (Linda) Pride, Glen (Glenda) Pride, Jerome Pride, Kevin (Julie) Pride, Arthur “Artie” Pride, Brian (Jodi) Pride, Bradley (Sue) Stanley; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents: Kenneth and Anna Mae McCrary, paternal grandparents: Bruce and Georgia Pride, sister: Regina Whitmer, 2 brothers: Michael and Mark Pride, and a step-son: Jerry Jordan II.
A memorial visitation will be held 4-6 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice Hearts, 908 E. Main St., Urbana, IL 61802, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
