Mary K. Bowen, age 86, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana.
Mary was born in Ingraham on December 13, 1929, the daughter of Truman and Berniece (Colborn) Wilkins. She married Ezekiel “Zeke” Bowen on May 3, 1948, in Louisville. He preceded her in death May 23, 1989. Mary had worked at the shoe factory and raised a family while helping Zeke with their family business, Bowen Plumbing and Heating. She was a faithful member of North Harter Christian Church, and enjoyed tending to her flowers and vegetable garden, and spending time painting and sewing.
Mary is survived by 2 sons: James Bowen of Salem and Rick (Pauline) Bowen of Flora; 3 daughters: Diana (Lee) Blair of Flora, Cheryl (Larry) Parish of Baker, LA, and Mona (Dennis) Zuck of Nashville, TN; 2 brothers: John (Alice) Wilkins of Ingraham and Bill (Marla) Wilkins of Teutopolis; 2 sisters: Leona Thomas of Olney and Peg (Jim) Kuenstler of Olney; 2 sisters-in-law: Shirley Henderson of Willow Springs, MO, and Neoma Keller of Flora; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson: Michael, an infant brother, and 2 sisters: Joyce Roberts and JoAnne Foster.
A funeral service for Mary Bowen will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior, from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Floral Garden of Memories, Flora. Memorial donations may be given to North Harter Christian Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
