Stanley Dean “Catfish” Persinger Sr., age 64, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016, at his home in Flora.
“Big Stan” was born April 29, 1952, in Flora, the son of Harold Dean and Ida Frances (Sharp) Persinger. He was owner of Stan’s Iron & Metal, and enjoyed following the Derbies, and playing poker and Texas Hold’em. Stan was a loving father and grandfather.
“Big Stan” is survived by his 2 daughters: Amanda Persinger (Adam Jackson) of Effingham and Tiffany Persinger of Flora; 10 grandkids: Victoria Hoffman, Dylan Hoffman, Brandon Hoffman, Quorbyn Hoffman, Kayden Persinger, Bentley Persinger, Aubree Persinger, Damian Persinger, Zaiden Persinger, and Brantley Persinger; 8 brothers: Montie, Danny, David, Rocky, Carl, Dennis, Mark, and Rodney Persinger; 4 sisters: Barbara Clark, Lois Fulk, Martha Fulk, and Glenda Senters; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a beloved son: Stanley D. “Lil’ Stan” Persinger Jr.; 2 brothers: Jimmy Ray and Junior Persinger; and 2 brothers-in-law: Jack Fulk and Charles Clark.
A funeral service for “Big Stan” Persinger will be 6 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
