Mary J. King, age 81, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, October 9, 2016, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.
Mary was born on January 30, 1935, in Kilgore, Texas, the daughter of Richard and Ola Mae Cooper. She was united in marriage to Charles E. King on January 31, 1976, in St. Charles, Illinois.
Mary was employed by AT&T for 27 ½ years and after she and Charles retired, they moved back to Flora in 1990. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Flora. She loved her church, her pastor, her family, friends, and her little dog, Gabby.
Mary is survived by her husband: Charles King of Flora; two step-sons: Mark King and Tony King both of Maple Park; one brother: Richard (Ruth) Cooper of Flora; three sisters: Audra (Glen) Rosenberger of Flora, Patsy (Kenneth) Hoard of Louisville, and Margie (John) Barnett of Lawrenceville; a sister-in-law: Carolyn Curnutt of Olympia, Washington; two grandchildren: Dianna (Lonnie) Simms and Zachary King, both of Aurora; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Lillian Pyles and Betty Scott, and a niece and nephew.
A memorial service for Mary King will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday. A private interment will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery, Fairfield. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory may be given to First Southern Baptist Church.
