Debra A. Duke, age 65, a lifelong resident of Flora, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017, in Fairfield.
Debbie was born September 18, 1951, in Flora, the daughter of William Lowell and Faye Mildred (Stinnett) Duke. She served as a substitute teacher throughout the county for many years and had attended First Christian Church of Flora, and more recently Flora First United Methodist Church. Debbie was involved in the past with Clay County Hospital Auxiliary, was past Unit Chairman of American Cancer Society, and was past president of the 19th Congressional District Democratic Women. She will be remembered as a caring person, who shared positive thoughts and words with those around her.
She is survived by a niece: Netta (Max) Stewart; nephews: Danny Pifer and Kevin Pifer; a cousin: Wesley Burgess; and several other dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: LaDonna Pifer, and a nephew and his wife: Randy and Marge Pifer.
A funeral service for Debbie Duke will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Cisne Cemetery. Memorial donations in Debbie's memory are suggested to Flora First United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
