Erma E. Neeley, age 96, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.
Erma was born February 23, 1921, in Flora, the daughter of Clarence and Flossie (Brainard) McCommons. She was united in marriage to August M. Neeley on September 27, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2009. Erma’s focus her entire life was “family”. She enjoyed traveling, camping with family, gardening and flowers; and was a member of the First Christian Church in Flora and the EverReady Sunday School Class of the church.
Erma is survived by her children: Augie Neeley (wife Janet) of Grayville and Janet McNeely of Louisville; 5 grandsons: Randy McNeely (wife Tara) of Louisville, Troy McNeely (wife Mary Kay) of Marshall, Bryan Neeley (wife Carmen) of Jacksonville, Brent McNeely (wife Karen) of Summerville, SC, and Marc Neeley (wife Maria) of Grayville; 16 great-grandchildren: Taylor (husband Trae), Braden, Dalton, Madison, Katlyn, Alex, Kelsey, Kevin, Christian, Connor, Cole, Callie, Canyon, Nicholas, Kassidy, and Brock; and would have been a great-great-grandmother this summer. Also surviving are 2 sisters: Melba Young of Stockton and Janette Hochgesang of Medinah. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law: Ronnie McNeely; 1 brother: Dale McCommons; and 2 sisters: Maxine Lowe and Vera Colclasure.
A funeral service for Erma Neeley will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Kneff Cemetery. A visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be given to Clay County Rehabilitation Center and will be accepted through the funeral home.
