Mark Anthony Shelton, age 56, of Flora, passed away Thursday night, April 27, 2017, at his home.
He was born January 10, 1961, in Decatur, the son of Russell Marion and Martha Bernice (Moats) Shelton.
Mark was retired from working. He really enjoyed fishing and watching sports on television, especially baseball, and going for rides around town and the country. Mark was kindhearted, and would do what he could to help others. Having his pit bull, Gypsy, at his side had become one of the best parts of his life. Mark had been a member of the Moose and had attended Calvary Baptist Church in the past.
He is survived by 6 sisters: JoAnn Armer (the late Andy) of Flora, Mae Harrison (O’Dale) of Florida, Marion Eastin (the late Perry Mitchell) of Flora; Sandy Lowe (the late Dennis) of Mt. Carmel, Marty Jayne of Flora, and April Proctor (David) of Flora; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Summer Bernice; a sister: Benita Bernice Holdeman; and a brother: Russell David Shelton.
A funeral service for Mark Shelton will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will follow in Rusk Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter (CCARS) and will be accepted at the funeral home.
