   Daniel Joseph Cates, age 29, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017, in Louisville.  He was born in La Grange, Illinois, on February 2, 1988.

   He is survived by his father: Clifton Cates of Cisne; his mother: Julie Cates of Cisne; one sister: Christina Schallmo (husband Joseph) of Cisne; a niece: Maisie; his step-grandfather: William Sliker of Marseilles; along with several aunts and uncles.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Delbert and Marie Cates; his maternal grandparents: Ward Kerr and Judith Kerr Sliker; and his great-grandmother: Nellie Kerr.

   A Celebration of Life service for Daniel Cates will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with a visitation from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday.  Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, Wayne County.
