Carlin O. Conard, age 70, of Cisne, Illinois, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.
Carlin was born June 23, 1947, in Wayne County, the son of H. Verne and Elizabeth (Tenney) Conard. He was united in marriage to Judy Carter on November 26, 1988, in Rinard, and they’ve enjoyed over 28 years of marriage.
Carlin retired after being a farm fuel truck driver for over 40 years, most recently for Wabash Valley F/S. He also farmed, raised cattle, was an avid bird, deer and turkey hunter, and enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Hardin County. Carlin was a U.S. Army veteran and was baptized at Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Judy Conard of Cisne; 4 daughters: Kelly (Jim) New of Wartrace, TN, Gina (Kim) Ames of Fillmore, IN, Chris (Mark) Johnson of Sycamore, and Jolene Mattox of Flora; 6 grandchildren: Brett Conard, Brenden Conard, Ashley Ames, Ethan Ames, Allison Edberg, and Eli Johnson; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Galen (Marion) Conard of Flora and Floy (Mel) Conard of Cisne; 1 sister: Dorothy (Robert) Atteberry of Cisne; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Kevin Conard; 1 sister: Olive (Marvin) Gregory; and 3 infant brothers.
A funeral service for Carlin Conard will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Cisne Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Carlin’s memory may be given to Clay County Hospice or Clay County Cancer Crusaders and will be accepted through the funeral home.
