Pauline Laird, age 91, of Flora, Illinois, passed peacefully into eternal life surrounded by her son Lee, daughter Marsha, and son-in-law Steve at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.
Evelyn Pauline was born December 28, 1925, in Wayne County, to Lyman Edward and Bertha Matilda (Hadley) Harrington. She married Charles Rea Laird on January 31, 1947, in Clay County. To this union two children were born: Lee in 1951 and Marsha in 1954. Charles passed away February 12, 1985.
Pauline was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Flora American Legion Auxiliary, and the Clay County Hospital Auxiliary. She worked as a beautician for many years, retiring at age 80.
Pauline is survived by son: Lee Laird and daughter: Marsha (Steve) Miller all of Flora; grandchildren: Cassia (Brandon) Wood of Xenia, Rebecca (Daithen) Kitchens of Atlanta, GA, Les (Lesley) Miller of Madison, IN, Lucas (Chelsea) Miller of Pierce, NE, and Lindsey (Eric) Williams of Louisville; and great-grandchildren: Keagan and Keira Rogers, Charlie Wood, and Lucea, Claire, Kate, Eliana and Zeke Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a granddaughter: Tammy; and three sisters: Velma Jennings of Louisville, Mildred Wolfe of Flora, and Marjorie Pittman of Rinard.
A funeral service for Pauline Laird will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Laird Cemetery, rural Wayne County. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Pauline’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital or Faith Lutheran Church and will be accepted through the funeral home.
