Rhoda Ann Cook, age 69, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday morning, November 17, 2017, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.
Ann was born December 7, 1947, in Flora, the daughter of Walter V. “Jake” and Mayola M. (Williams) Cook.
Ann was a graduate of O.C.C. and worked in the State of Illinois Public Aid Office. Early on, she worked at the A&W and later at Sparton Manufacturing. Ann was a longtime member of the Flora Church of the Nazarene, where she served as Sunday School Class Secretary, helped in the nursery, and assisted in organizing blood drives. She also served as treasurer of Willow Branch Cemetery. Ann looked forward to the times she would meet up with her friends, whether it was going out to eat, having coffee, or playing cards. She also loved to travel and had the opportunity to go parasailing while in Florida. Ann also enjoyed spending time outdoors going fishing, mushroom hunting, and riding her bike.
She is survived by her siblings: Frances (Leroy) Mitchell of Noble, Darrell Cook (Mal) of Chicago, Bruce (Belinda) Cook of Flora, and Susan (Kevin) Moore of Xenia; nieces and nephews: Kendra (Eric) Shaw, Kent Mitchell (Emily), Austin Cook, Adam (Chelsye) Cook, Lindsay (Jack) Engelhardt, and Elizabeth Moore (Paul Henderson); several step nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins; and her dog “Petey”. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister: Linda Sue Cook.
A funeral service for Ann Cook will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Flora Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be in Willow Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations in Ann’s memory may be given to Willow Branch Cemetery Fund or Flora Church of the Nazarene and will be accepted at the funeral home.
